Back in the early 1800s, Denmark was quite poor in forest.
Therefore, the king decided to plant oak trees – at the time you had to spend 1,500 full grown oak trees for the production of a single warship.
The remains of the ”fleet’s” old oak trees are now being cut down after 200 years. Nørgård makes custom made wooden tables of the old logs.
The trick is to use the wood as efficient as possible and at the same time maintain the unique expression.
The structure of the oak trees has been shaped over centuries of changing climatic conditions.
Each piece of furniture is tailor made and has its own expression, its own soul and is manufactured by hand in the workshop in Herning.
