Danish Design Makers is the name of a community of 15 young independent furniture designers from Denmark and several other countries, who all feel a close connection with the Danish design culture and cherish values like honesty, simplicity and functionality.

At the furniture fair in Cologne in January 2015, Danish Design Makers had the availability of a stand of 120 sqm. As the main exhibition topic was chosen My Story – as a call for each of the participants to reflect on what has turned them to the designers they are. To make sure that things should not get too hilarious though, it was a requirement that they had to work with five specific RAL colors.

The stand was decorated as a Nordic universe of northern lights, birch trees, forest floor and mould, with elements of darkness and melancholy. The furniture items were positioned so that each was highlighted with lighting or podiums.

Danish Design Makers’ participation at the fair was sponsored by a variety of companies, organizations and foundations, including Tr√¶fonden.
