Prime minister pays furniture visit

Master joiner Søren Holst Pedersen explains the prime minister about a detail on the top rail of Hans J. Wegner’s chair PP 502.

Design furniture company PP Furniture, producing some of the most famous items of classic Danish design furniture, had a fine visit in late January. Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt had called on the joinery workshop in Allerød and had a tour around the tradition-filled rooms, where she greeted several of the 44 employees.

PP Furniture is a family owned business that today is run by the second and third generation, master joiners Søren Holst Pedersen and Kasper Holst Pedersen.

The visit was part of a series of enterprise visits, which Helle Thorning-Schmidt will submit in the coming months. This occurs as a prelude to a future government initiative to stimulate growth in the number of Danish workplaces. PP Furniture was appointed because the company has managed to triple its growth over 10 years, followed by an increase in the number of employees.
