Poul Cadovius designed the Pia Chair 1959.
It is a chair that reflects the spirit of the time, yet bears the designer’s signature by focusing on the principle of “less is more”.
Due to the thoughtful construction, the chair does not weigh much in comparison with other chairs of that time.
The sleek conical shaped solid wood legs provide a light visual expression, which is also emphasized by the hand-carved rounding at the top of the hind legs, and the forelegs finger joinery.
As a furniture designer, Poul Cadovius was probably best known for his iconic shelving systems, such as the Royal System from 1948, but Pia Chair cement Poul Cadovius as an extremely versatile designer.
