Now, furniture enthusiasts with a sense of history have a unique opportunity to furnish with genuine royal furniture. This will be possible on July 15, 2014 where a major auction will be put up for furniture, which has been used in royal Danish castles such as Amalienborg, Fredensborg, Christiansborg, Sorgenfri Castle and others.
The sales catalogue has just been published, and it contains almost 600 items, mainly from the 19th century. Among this furniture, kings and queens, princes and princesses have been living, and the furniture has witnessed both great decisions and great emotions.
Stylewise, the furniture ranges from rococo to modern classics. Almost all the furniture is marked, so that it can be tracked back to exactly the castle, from where it derives. The furniture has not been used for a long time, and as Danish museums don’t want to take it into possession, it has been decided to sell it. It is 60 years ago that a similar auction was last held, so this is a really unique opportunity to acquire genuine royal furniture.
It is the Danish auction office Auktionshuset, Hørsholm, who organizes the royal furniture sale. The illustrated sales catalogue can be seen at www.auktionshuset.com, where it is also possible to make advance bids.
