In February 2015, the head of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, visited Copenhagen, invited by a number of private organizations. During the visit, two large well-attended events were held in the congress center Bella Center, where the Dalai Lama, among other things, talked about compassion and mental strength.
During the two events the Dalai Lama was sitting in a Danish chair – model ND83, which is designed by Nanna Ditzel and produced by Snedkergaarden Them. The chair was specially selected for the occasion, as the organizers already had links to Nanna Ditzel’s studio. Its seating comfort matches the high demands of the hour-long meeting sessions at the Bella Center
The chair, in which the Dalai Lama sat in during his Copenhagen visit, was manufactured in oiled oak and upholstered with a bright red fabric in a hue that blends in with the color scheme widely used in Tibetan Buddhism.
