Focus on Sika-Design during royal visit to Indonesia

Students from the School of Design visiting Sika-Design to learn more about rattan as furniture material.

From 21 to 24th October 2015, the Danish royal couple – HRH Queen Margrethe and HRH Prince Henrik – will pay an official state visit to Indonesia.

During the state visit, the Danish rattan furniture company Sika-Design, which manufactures its furniture in its own factories in Indonesia, has been invited to participate in a design workshop in Jakarta, organized by the Indonesian design institute ICAD.

At the workshop, Sika-Design will show the results of its cooperation with a group of furniture design students from the School of Design in Copenhagen. The students have been visiting Sika Design’s factory in Indonesia where they have been able to produce their final projects in rattan as 1: 1 prototypes. The royal couple will visit the design workshop, where they will have the opportunity to inspect the students’ projects.

Sika-Design is very happy for the publicity about the company, as the royal visit entails. This supports the company’s ambition to increase its sales in Indonesia, where a sales office has just been opened.

Sika-Design’s collection of classic wicker furniture – Icons – are produced at the company’s factories in Indonesia.
