Fashion house creates special edition of the Grand Prix chair

The Danish design furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen has entered into an unusual partnership with the exclusive Danish men’s fashion brand Han Kjøbenhavn. The co-operation is about the elegant shell chair Grand Prix, which was designed by the famous Danish furniture designer Arne Jacobsen in 1957, and which has now been relaunched in its original version with wooden legs.

Han Kjøbenhavn has created a modern interpretation of the Grand Prix chair where the back is shaped by black steel tubes and covered with plaited flag line. The seat is in oiled oak or walnut, while the legs are in black-stained oak.

Han Kjøbenhavn’s interpretation of the Grand Prix chair is produced in only 12 copies that will be shown in groups of three as an installation at various museums and furniture stores. This is a special version, devoted solely to focus on the re-launch of the Grand Prix chair, and it will not go into production.

The exhibition installation received its premiere during the ICFF furniture fair in New York in May. Afterwards, it has been shown in Copenhagen, and in the near future the installation will be shown in Italy, London and Tokyo, among other places.
