Danish furniture design will have a prominent place during the finals of the European Song Contest in the B& W Halls in Copenhagen in May. The Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) , who is in charge of the event, has chosen the Danish furniture company Softline from Maribo to supply furniture to the green room area in front of the main stage, where singers from the 37 participating countries will be staying.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is the world’s largest music competition, and it will be the biggest TV production in DR’s history. The three major TV shows – the semifinals on 6 and 8 May and the finals on May 10 – is expected to be followed by a global audience of over 170 million viewers.

Softline will supply a total of over 400 pieces of furniture, which will be used in front of the main stage, to the journalists in the press room and in the VIP area. The order includes a variety of models of lounge furniture, sofas, chairs, etc.

Finn H. Sorensen, CEO at Softline says to danishfurniture.dk that he is very proud that the company’s furniture is now being presented to a large international audience: “We are pleased to contribute to the show in Copenhagen, hoping it will be a nice experience which can generate increased interest, both for Denmark and for our furniture. When we are developing our furniture, we are very much inspired by music, joy and colors – and those are exactly the values that the Eurovision Song Contest also brings on to millions of viewers,” Sorensen says.
