Collector’s Suite exudes 1970’s mood.
For several years, Hotel Alexandra in Copenhagen has risen to become one of the capital’s leading design hotels, and all the hotel rooms are decorated with classical Danish design furniture by furniture designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Nanna Ditzel, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl and Ole Wanscher.
Now, the hotel will take one step further with the decor of its first Collector’s Suite, which has been developed in close cooperation with Danish furniture collector and gallery owner Anders Petersen. The suite is decorated in typical 1970’s style that characterizes the selected furniture, lamps, television set, carpets, paintings and decorative art objects.
The idea is that the suite should be periodically redesigned with new vintage items. This may also be necessary, as most of the furniture and interior objects in the suite are for sale, if a hotel guest should fall for them during his or her stay.
“Collector’s Suite is a new and fun way to present our Danish design treasures to visitors who will have an experience of living in a typical Danish 1970’s home,” says general manager Jeppe Mühlhausen, Hotel Alexandra. He adds that there are already plans for the layout of the next suite, which will be dedicated to the Danish furniture designer Poul Kjærholm.
