Celebrating 30 years of family ownership

Mette and Morten Sundberg with a couple of furniture classics from Bernstorffsminde.

On June 1, 2016, it was 30 years ago since Danish furniture factory Bernstorffsminde was taken over by the Sundberg family. It celebrated at a reception at the factory on Friday, June 3 between 1 pm and 4 pm. The address is Hundtofte 14 d, DK-5771 Stenstrup.

Furniture production has taken place in the South Funen village since the mid-1800s, and over the years, the small cabinetmaker workshop evolved into a furniture factory. In 1986, the factory was bought by carpenter and architect Leif Sundberg, and today the company is owned by the next generation, namely his son Morten Sundberg, who is head of the production, while his wife Mette Sundberg is CEO of the company.

Bernstorffsminde manufactures several well-known furniture classics, including Kaare Klint’s Church Chair from 1936, and Børge Mogensen’s dining chair and armchair BM1 and BM2. In recent years, the company has also distinguished itself as a leading supplier of frames and components for other well-known Danish furniture brands.
