Beak Chair by Ole Wanscher

Ole Wanscher designed the Beak Chair in 1951.

The chair was shown the same year at the Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition.

The chair is a good example of Ole Wanscher’s sculptural design.

The quite special armrests, reminiscent of a beak, has given inspiration to the chair’s name: Beak Chair.

It is an exclusive piece of furniture with a high level of craftsmanship.

The soft curving shape of the chair is created without visible transitions.

Only the covers on the side of the armrests are visible.

It’s a nice functional and decorative detail reminiscent of a bird’s eye.

In collaboration with Ole Wanscher’s descendants, Carl Hansen & Son has recreated the Beak Chair after the original drawings.

The Beak Chair is manufactured in oak, black painted oak or walnut with upholstery in fabric or leather.
