The Spanish Chair in new and darker look – here with oiled oak and cognac colored leather.
One of furniture designer Børge Mogensen’s most iconic pieces of furniture – The Spanish Chair from 1958 – has now been introduced in a new, darker version. The manufacturer Fredericia Furniture has chosen to give the chair a more international character by using smoked oak or oiled oak for the frame and cognac or black leather that highlights the warm tones of the oak.
Børge Mogensen was inspired to this chair during a trip to Spain, where he became fascinated by a Spanish officer’s chair with wide armrests and a frame with elaborate carvings. He simplified and modernized this chair, and chose to mount it with one whole piece of leather to show his respect for the bull in the arena.
The Spanish Chair is in demand both for private homes and public spaces like foyer and lobby areas.
