With the exhibition The Danish Chair, Designmuseum Denmark shows a string of chairs and tells the story of how Danish design became an internationally known concept.
As a guest, you can get an overview of the many chair types that draw the picture of the 20th century Danish success story and the export adventure that we call Danish Modern.
The chair is the piece of furniture closest to the human being. It touches and mirrors the body it is supposed to carry with arms, legs, seat and back.
It is the touchstone of the designers and the favorite object of the design historians. And then the chair is one of the most culture-bearing design objects. It tells everything about the time and society in which it is created.
It gives the person who sits in it the status and identity.
