PK91 by Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm designed PK91 in 1961.

The folding chair is made of brushed stainless steel and has a seat in canvas or a selection of leather.

In the centre of the chair is a small ball bearing.

An ancient Egyptian folding chair from about 1500 BC is reportedly the inspiration for the folding stool.

But maybe some inspiration was also taken from Kaare Klint’s “propeller stool” from 1930.

PK91 is part of the permanent collection at the Gothenburg Röhsska Museum.

The folding chair by Poul Kjærholm is a foldable monument in Danish furniture art.
