FDB’s iconic furniture classics have been relaunched and now they have their own store – FDB Furniture in Lyngby. If all goes well, there will be several shops on the way.
In 1942 FDB established its own furniture department run by Børge Mogensen. The vision was to create furniture that was of “quiet appearance” and “of good function”.
The first furniture catalogue was published in 1950 and included the classics such as Børge Mogensen´s People Chair J39 and Hans Wegner´s famous rocking chair J16.
In the early 1960s, FDB’s furniture was in such a high demand that delivery problems occurred.
In the 1970s the interest for the furniture dropped and the story of the beloved furniture seemed to be a closed chapter until COOP chose to take up production again in 2013.
Since then the interest has been steadily increasing for these durable and beautiful pieces of furniture.
Now that is a beautiful comeback.
