Kristian Illum Wikkelsø (1919-1999) belonged to the generation of designers who made Danish Design a world-renowned phenomenon in the 1950s and 1960s.
Wikkelsø was educated in 1938 and studied further at the art school until 1941.
He worked with Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard among others, before setting up his own studio in 1954.
Over time, he has designed various pieces of furniture which today have become classics.
Among the most famous is his rocking chair IW3 from 1958, today produced by N. Eilersen.
