In 1956 Ib Kofod-Larsen designed the U-56 armchair.
The chair has curved armrests and low seat height and a harmonically embracing back.
The chair is made of oak, walnut and teak with upholstered seat and back in textile or leather.
One copy was acquired by the English Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip during a visit to Copenhagen – since then the chair has been nicknamed Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is a prominent example of modern Danish furniture design and has been in production at Brdr. Petersen since 2018.
