The T1 table and the Tac chair are members of Andersen Furniture’s furniture collection in the anniversary year.
In the middle of June 2016, Danish furniture company Furniture Andersen could celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding. The story starts in 1916, when cabinetmaker I.C.A. Jensen established his own joinery workshop in Aarhus and, after some years, focusing only on production of designer furniture.
Later, the company was acquired by brothers Knud and Vagn Andersen and changed its name to Brdr. Andersen’s Møbelsnedkeri. And in 2014, another milestone was set, as the company – as part of a new and more internationally focused strategy – again changed its name, which is now just Andersen. The location is still in the Aarhus area, where headquarters now are in the Hinnerup suburb.
Andersen Furniture has made the journey from being a traditional domestic-oriented furniture manufacturer into a modern international design house. On the occasion of the anniversary, Andersen Furniture will manifest its new strategic direction, partly by launching a number of special anniversary furniture, and partly by introducing a new slogan: “Fresh design – solid work”. This emphasizes, according to CEO Poul Frandsen, the company’s ambition to combine modernity with quality in its products – all in a price range that consumers find attractive. This will, according to the CEO, make a good start to the next 100 years for Andersen Furniture.
